Creating A Lean Environment Using A Sign System

Life in the twenty-first century is comprised of millions of transactions and messages shared each day.

These transactions are led by many individuals with unique agendas, with little to no external management. Yet, they typically complete tasks and arrive at their destinations without major problems or confusion. This is due to the detailed processes implemented in our every-day lives.

Think about traveling by plane or car. Consider a grocery or retail shopping experience. What about the last time you visited the hospital or the post office? How useful were the signage, visual cues, and written direction when navigating to your final destination?

Visual workplace signs are used to offer solutions, explain processes, display important information, organize space, give directions, generate discussion, share messages, prompt action, answer questions, and more. All of this leads to more productive workers.

The Lean Environment Concept

The lean environment concept implements the idea of an organized, visual and process-oriented space that supports management’s goals to improve production methods in order to improve profit margins and become more competitive in the marketplace.

The goal of the lean environment concept is to drive costs out of the manufacturing processes and improve the safety of the work environment and worker productivity.

The use of signage is one of the tools at managements disposal to visually communicate and give direction daily to plant personnel allowing them to be more efficient in their work efforts.

Importance of A Sign System in the Lean Environment

Choose EffectiveSignagein theWorkplace

Signage has the ability to eliminate unnecessary wasted time by filling information deficits. It also makes processes safer and simpler, as well as more standardized, logical, fluid and cost-effective.

Using signage in the workplace to assist with macro and micro activity is called workplace visuality. The goals of a visual workplace are a self-ordering, self-explaining, self-regulating and self-improving work environment.

Choosing Effective Signage

Signage is used in a multitude of ways and to answer a number of questions. The most common and important types of signs address the question: “what needs to be known?”

Signage answers the who, what, when, where, why, how, and what next questions, for both staff and customers. This includes technical information, procedures, steps, visual aids, directions and more.

One way to decide what signage would be effective in your workplace is to consider common questions, mistakes, and reasons for wasted time. This may include questions asked more than once in the same time-period, or tasks that result in searching, wandering, guessing, checking and re-checking, interrupting, waiting, testing and more.

Questions get asked and productivity is halted when vital information is missing. Consider sharing the most important information on sign systems and productivity will likely increase as questions and unnecessary actions decrease.

The Benefits of a Sign System

Signage is more than shared messages that benefit the staff and managers. It also creates an environment that people enjoy.

Signage helps foster a clean and organized work environment, create logical work or traffic flow, creates safe and informed processes and answers core questions. This all leads to increased productivity and improved profit margins.

When using signs to remove as much time as possible from all processes, a value is added to the organization and the visual lean concept is implemented.

5 Ways that Hanging Signs Increase Brand Loyalty

Hanging display systems are a highly effective means of connecting your company’s brand to your customers and other stakeholders through well-placed signage. This is true for grocers, retailers, manufacturers, event planners and even corporate offices.

Customers who see your brand or important messages featured in an artful manner are more inclined to act upon or retain the shared information.

Extend your signage beyond the front doors to maximize engagement with the types of customers who will bring the company healthy profitability for years to come.

Five ways hanging signs and banners connect your brand with customers:

  1. They Support Your Effort to Create an Aesthetically Pleasing Atmosphere for Customers

Think back to the last time you were in a grocery store or other retail space without visual displays. The bare ceilings probably looked and felt quite depressing.

Hanging ceiling displays provide visual stimulation, affecting the customer’s overall experience. More importantly, branded hanging signs and banners unconsciously connect customers to your brand, making them more loyal and likely to return.

Customer loyalty is essential to the sustained growth and profitability of your business. Creating hanging display with consistent branding and value proposition. Then periodically change the messages for a fresh and new look.

Feature the right combination of verbiage, images, and other content on visual displays and you’ll find that customers feel more comfortable and are willing to spend money after walking into your establishment.

Let’s face it, people enjoy looking at colors, especially color schemes orchestrated in an artful manner and presented from an elevated position. Organize your message, colors and text in the proper manner and customers will be able to easily find their way around the store, obtain the information they need to make an informed decision and most of all, make that purchase.

  1. Visual Displays (Including Hanging Systems) Reinforce the Brand in a Customer’s Mind

People can associate their positive shopping experience when your brand is featured on visual displays in an artful manner. This is accomplished by utilizing an efficient hanging display system.

Branded signage, in a comfortable shopping space full of products, services and other niceties, connects positive emotions to your company’s brand. This is the type of connection needed to keep customers coming back for new and repeat purchases in the months, years and decades ahead.

  1. They Help Organize Your Space for an Optimized Experience

Hanging display systems help support the messaging on displays for guiding customers through your store in a fluid and efficient manner. This efficiency can lead to quick, comfortable and consistent fSignage helps optimize the customer experiencelow of customer traffic that leading merchandisers covet.

With today’s ceiling options, there is little reason to leave your ceiling bare and allow your customers to become confused as to where certain products, services or departments are located. Since these signs indicate where products are located, your customers can find exactly what they need without delay.

Signage frees up your staff from customer questions, as everything will be clearly marked for easy access.  Hanging display systems facilitate this process.  After all, time is money. If your customers get in and out of your establishment without getting lost or backtracking to find something that was not clearly marked, they tend to find the shopping experience to be much more appealing.

Furthermore, using a hanging display system to hang signs makes it faster, safer and easier to place your message on the ceiling, where it is most visible to the customer. When signs can be changed quickly, it optimizes the overall experience for both staff and customers, as messages can be changed or refreshed on a scheduled basis.

  1. They Easily Enable Sharing Important Messages

Hanging displays are a viable way to advertise important information to your customers. They promote sales, advertise special promotions, indicate aisle numbers and information, departments, decorations, services and so on. The hanging display system you choose can make it a lot easier to share important messages and change them quickly.

Customers value their time greatly, so signage that helps them navigate the aisles and merchandise are well received and the experience can be a source of good reviews. Efficiency is, and always has been, the name of the game in retail.

  1. Perhaps the Ultimate Reason to Use Hanging Display Systems is to Drive Sales

Give hanging displays a shot and it won’t take long for you to feel the positive financial impact, but to experience this impact, the proper hanging display system must be used to simplify this process and expedite quick changes.

A well-designed, visual workplace, that can be changed quickly and easily by utilizing an efficient hanging display system, prompts customers to make impulse purchases; try companion products and act on current promotions, each of which drives increased revenue, enhanced customer experience and loyalty.

The Answer to Hanging Level Signs with Ease

One of the many challenges when hanging level signs in retail, grocery or manufacturing environments is having to use traditional sign hanging cords and cable.

Cutting the line “perfectly even” is easy but knotting each line to the sign and ceiling clip at the same location in order to have level signs is the challenge.  Added challenges include working with frayed steel cable and weak barbs attached to the end of string or monofilament. You can take the disaster out of the equation by using the LoopLine™ cord.

LoopLine is a revolutionary product that provides an alternative to traditional sign hanging cords. LoopLine effectively:

  • decreases the amount of time spent hanging a sign
  • removes the difficulty and hassle associated with hanging level signs
  • offers an attractive visual aesthetic to the hanging sign
  • replaces monofilament and string cords equipped with barbed ends, metal jack chains, steel cables, and metal or plastic double C hooks.

Learn How To Hang Signs with LoopLine

Using LoopLine When attaching LoopLine to a ClikMagnet

Insert the first loop on one end of the LoopLine cord through the ClikMagnet ring, open that first loop and thread the opposite end through, creating a cow-hitch.

Create a cow hitch Ceiling Outfitters

There are two methods when attaching LoopLine to your sign or banner

  • When the ClikMagnet is attached to one end of LoopLine, thread first loop of the opposite end of the cord through the sign or banner grommet and pull the rest of the line and the ClikMagnet fully through the first loop, making sure to pull tight.
  • Without a ClikMagnet, on one end string the LoopLine through the grommet and first loop, creating a cow-hitch. Then, use the above methods to attach the free end to a ClikMagnet or another connecting device.

There are two methods to use when attaching LoopLine to a slanted ceiling

  • Add one or more rings to one of the ClikMagnets until the difference in ceiling height is eliminated. This way you can keep the LoopLine the same length on both sides.
  • Use this mathematical solution to find the length of LoopLine: RISE/RUN x distance between sign grommets = number of inches to add to the length of one of the lines.

Getting Mathematical to Find LoopLine Length for Slanted Ceilings

To determine the length of LoopLine when hanging on slanted ceilings use the equation:

RISE/RUN x distance between grommets = length to add to one of the lines, in inches.

Finding the RISE and RUN: Calculate the distance vertically, on the shortest wall, from the floor to the ceiling and record the length in inches. Move away exactly 12 inches from the wall and record the length in inches from floor to ceiling.

The difference between these two numbers is the RISE. The 12 inches you moved away from the wall is the RUN. Take the Rise and divide it by the Run, then, multiply that number by the distance between two sign grommets, in inches.

The answer you get is the number of inches you need to add to one of the lines.
